**Standard Scale Configurations**

There are three more-or-less standard scale configurations whose names are found frequently. There is some variation and the word "standard" is applied loosely. They are:

*Mannheim*. The first standard and which consisted of four scales only: a single
and a double logarithmic cycle on both the slide and stock (A, B, C and D). It also often
has trig scales on the bak of the slide.

*Rietz*. This was essentially the above standard plus trigonometric scales. It
sometimes included logarithmic, cube and reciprocal scales. (L, K and CI)

*Darmstadt*. This added log-log scales (LL1, LL2 and LL3) to the above
configuration. Some variants included a CI and a P scale, Ö(1
- x^{2}).
